# Your first store

> Create a storefront and put it live

Go to [Stores](https://itemstores.com/app/stores) and select **New store**.

## Name and website

Name is required, up to 50 characters.

Website becomes your store's address. The selector beside the field picks the
format: `item.store/your-website` on any license, or `your-website.item.store`
on a Full license. Letters, numbers, and dashes only, up to 50 characters.

  The website link cannot be changed after the store is created.

## Dates

Start date and Deadline control when the store opens and closes. Both start
empty, and neither accepts a date in the past. Leave the deadline empty for a
store that stays open.

## Shipping

The store will not save without a shipping origin address and a shipping type,
both in the Shipping section.

Under **What type of shipping will your store use?** there are three choices:

* Flat rate shipping charges a fixed fee regardless of order size, and asks for
  that fee.
* Calculated shipping prices each order from its weight and your default package
  dimensions. It stays disabled until you enable a carrier in
  [Settings › Shipping](https://itemstores.com/app/settings/shipping), and its
  label carries the carrier name when only one carrier applies.
* Free shipping or pickup only.

## Create it

Select **Create store** in the bar along the bottom. You land on the new store's
own page.
